PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Attorney General’s Office announced that investigators have identified the human remains found in Pickaway County in the early 1990s as 21-year-old Robert A. Mullins.
According to reports, at the time, hunters discovered the Mullins’ remains in November of 1991 in a drainage ditch along Route 56.
In the preliminary investigation, it was believed that the remains were two to three years old. The problem for the Pickaway County Coroner’s Office, officials said, was that the skull belonging to the remains was missing.
Initially, it was believed that the bones belonged to a female in their 20s. It was later discovered after samples were sent to Texas in 2011, that the remains belonged to a male between 16 to 30 years of age.
Attorney General Dave Yost was joined by Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey, Pickaway County Coroner Dr. John Ellis, Former Pickaway County Coroner Dr. Michael Geron, Former Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff, and Amanda Reno of AdvanceDNA.
Officials say the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Anyone with information regarding Mullins or his death is asked to contact the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office or the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
