CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police in Chillicothe have released new details in the shooting that sent a local teen to the hospital.
It happened around shortly after midnight in the 100 block of North High Street.
The victim, who has been identified as a 15-year-old male, was found suffering from two gunshot wounds by patrol officers who responded to the incident. He was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
Eyewitnesses reported to the Guardian that they saw a dark-colored SUV pull up in front of a brick house and open fire, hitting one person. The vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed but another car in the area that saw the shooting followed at a distance and called 9-1-1.
The shooter was stopped in a felony traffic stop with guns drawn by officers on Western Avenue in front of the Central Center Shopping Center.
Following the shooting and the arrest of the suspect, the Chillicothe Special Response Team served a search warrant in the 500 block of Mill Street. During the search, officers seized the suspected firearm used in the shooting, as well as a stolen firearm and several additional guns.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male juvenile has been arrested and charged with felonious assault, while a 19-year-old male, Robert Bullard, has been arrested and charged with complicity to felonious assault. Bullard is also a person of interest in another shooting that occurred Thursday evening on Madison Avenue on the city’s east side.
