PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A pedestrian crash yesterday evening has turned fatal in Circleville.
According to Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey, a Pickaway County Sheriff’s Deputy was driving south on US Route 23 when he saw a pedestrian wearing a black coat in the roadway.
The Deputy, reports say, avoided hitting the pedestrian and continued to the next intersection, where he turned around to check on the pedestrian.
However, by the time the Deputy returned to the scene, the pedestrian had been struck by a silver Chevrolet Impala driven by Paul A. Trusky. The pedestrian, identified as 62-year-old Craig A. Jones of Columbus, Ohio, was taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus but later succumbed to his injuries.
Trusky and a passenger in the Impala were also injured and transported to OhioHealth Berger Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash, authorities say, remains under investigation.
