Matthew Scott Griesheimer, 55, of Chillicothe, passed 6:09 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at his residence unexpectedly.
He was born November 3, 1967, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Raymond Scott and Mary Louise Barnett Griesheimer.
Surviving are his daughter, Eden (Caleb) Smith, of Virginia Beach, VA; fiancée, Tina Crow, of Chillicothe; a sister, Lisa (Karl) Hochuli, of Punta Gorda, FL; former wife and mother of his daughter, Gene Griesheimer; aunts and uncles Herb Griesheimer, of Chillicothe, Joe (Cheryl) Griesheimer, JoAnne (Mike) Rolf, of Tucson, AZ and Jack (Donna) Wellinghoff, of Chillicothe; nieces and nephews, Nick (Chelsea) Hochuli, of Dayton, OH, Devin Riddle and his fiancée, Calie, of Greenfield and Chelsea Riddle and her fiancé, Tyler, of Cape Coral, FL; many cousins, including a special cousin, David (Laura) Rolf, of Tucson, AZ; longtime friends, Val Sigler, Bob Bixler, and Teddi Goldsberry; and bonus daughters, Aidan Neal, Hannah Notestine, and Alara Crow. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by grandparents, Raymond and Ruth Griesheimer and Junior Barnett.
Matt had worked as a Master Pipefitter. He had attended and was saved at Open Door Fellowship Church. Matt was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially looked forward to mushroom and ginseng season. Matt was very knowledgeable about local history and collecting relics. He loved his farm, his tractor, and had quite a green thumb. Matt had a good heart and was a natural storyteller. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Along with his family, we hope Matt is reunited with Lady, Lupe, and Chi Chi.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME. A private burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service on Friday.
