BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — Deputies in Ross County captured a man just after midnight early Tuesday morning after a manhunt.
It happened along route 50 near the village limits of Bainbridge. It started after deputies said Ryan Miller, 43, Potts Hill Road, was on a four-wheeler and driving on the road. When deputies tried to pull him over for being on the highway, he gave chase, taking them through a field.
After a brief pursuit, the chase ended after Miller crashed the ATV into a tree, deputies said. Despite the accident, Miller stood up and took off running. Deputies were concerned about his well-being after the crash coupled with the cold temperatures, so a manhunt was launched with a K-9 and an initial request for the Highway Patrol’s helicopter.
Miller was found nearly an hour later, bedded down in weeds. EMS looked him over and he was not seriously injured. He was taken to the Ross County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, along with obstructing official business. Why Miller initially ran from deputies was not disclosed, however, it was reported that he did not have an active driver’s license.
The ATV was towed from the scene.
