ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The investigation into two separate shootings in Ross County remains ongoing.
On Thursday, January 19, deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Route 772 on a hit and run with shots being fired.
Deputies arrived at the scene and spoke with the caller, who said his vehicle was shot at.
During the investigation, the 9-1-1 caller said a red pickup truck opened fire on him near Gibson’s General Store. The victim in the case was able to give deputies a list of possible names involved.
Upon a follow-up, deputies said, no one mentioned would offer a voluntary statement.
The case remains open, and anyone with information on this shooting is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
In a second incident on Thursday, deputies were called to Clearview Drive and Cattail Road on reports of gunfire.
Deputies in their report stated that multiple 9mm shell casings were found in the roadway. A resident in the area said they heard the gunshots and saw a gray car flee the area shortly after.
Later in the day, the sheriff’s office was notified by a homeowner who said multiple bullets struck their residence. Deputies said that upon arrival the homeowner showed them multiple bullet holes in their porch and shell casings in their driveway. The residents went on to say that they believe the shooting is in retaliation to the recent murder at a local hotel. The individual said their relative was at the scene of the homicide.
Currently, there are no named suspects in this incident.
