Dorothy Grace Parker, age 84, of Hillsboro died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.
She was born February 3, 1937 in Foster, Ohio, the daughter of the late Belden and Eleanor (Heineman) Saur.
Dorothy was a 1955 graduate of Morrow High School and earned her Bachelors degrees in Horticulture and Botany from Michigan State University and the University of Cincinnati. She was a member of the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the North American Rock Garden Society. In 1984 Dorothy founded and became operator of the Trenoll Rockgarden Nursery in Trenton, Ohio. Dorothy, in her retirement, became a legendary crafter of needlework that she shared with her family and friends. She enjoyed rooting for the Cincinnati Reds.
She is survived by her sister, Sarah “Sally” Frydryk of Hillsboro and many nieces and nephews that include, Sarah (Steve) Hamilton and family of Kentucky, Ronald L. Saur of Texas, Craig (Nanette) Fahrnbach and son, William of Tennessee, David B and children Alex and Cheryl of Tennessee, Christopher (Shannon) Fahrnbach and children, Jacob, Nathan, Garrett and Ellie of Ohio and many long-time friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Parker, her daughter, Grace Lynn Dehaan, two brothers-in-law, Edmund Frydryk and Louis B. Saur.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Hillsboro Cemetery. Father Michael Paraniuk will officiate.
