ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ross County Prosecutor’s Office reported that 21 cases were presented to the grand jury this week, and all 21 were returned. Among the cases, two were open for discussion, while the rest were secret indictments.

One of the cases involves Michael Edward Merritt of Chillicothe. Merritt is being charged with burglary and grand theft, with the date of offense being on January 4, 2023.

Another case involves Tyrese C. Finch of Columbus. Finch is being charged with felonious assault and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises with a firearm specification. The offense happened on February 5, 2023.

According to reports at the time, detectives were sent to Adena Regional Medical Center to speak with a male subject who was suffering from a gunshot wound. During the investigation, it was learned that Finch was the alleged shooter, and the incident took place outside of a Chillicothe laundry mat on the city’s south side.
