JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Highway Patrol’s Jackson Post responded to a injury, single-vehicle crash on County Road 2 in Bloomfield Township, Jackson County. The accident took place at around 6:12 P.M. on March 11.
According to the patrol, Austin Crosby, 16, of Thurman, Ohio, was driving a 2007 Mazda 3, with Brody Brunton, 16, Oak Hill, on County Road 2.
As Crosby was driving south, he crossed the centerline, drove off the left side of the road, striking an embankment. The car then flipped over onto the road before moving off the right side of the road and hitting a ditch. Crosby, who officials said was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown out of the vehicle and suffered severe injuries. Brunton also suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident.
Both Crosby and Brunton were treated at the accident scene by Jackson County E.M.S before being transported by Med-Flight to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
