CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A local woman contacted police on Wednesday after discovering that her storage unit had been broken into and robbed. According to the police report, the woman visited her storage unit located on Renick Avenue at the Advanced Services Storage on Tuesday at around 7:30 pm. However, when she returned the next day at approximately 5:30 pm, she found that the lock had been cut off, the locking mechanism on the door was damaged, and the unit had been ransacked.
The woman reported that several items had been stolen, including a black Adidas backpack containing miscellaneous clothing and $3,000 in cash. Police officers arrived at the scene and took photographs of the damaged storage unit. They also conducted a walk-through of the area, noting that no other units had been broken into.
While on-site, officers attempted to view surveillance footage of the storage unit area but were unable to do so at the time of the report. They left a voicemail for the storage unit managers, requesting that they call investigators back once the footage was available.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and report it. Meanwhile, the victim is left to deal with the aftermath of the theft and vandalism of her storage unit.
