CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police in Chillicothe were called to an incident on North Bridge Street after a customer refused to return a rented U-Haul van.
According to reports from the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were dispatched to 24 N. Bridge Street after the caller reported that the customer had not returned the van as agreed.
The customer had rented the van on February 24th, 2023, and was supposed to return it on February 25th, 2023, at 7 p.m. but reportedly never did. The employee attempted to contact the customer and even sent a letter requesting the return of the van, which the customer signed to acknowledge receipt. However, the customer claimed he had given the van to someone else but would bring it back. The manager told police that they waited for another day, but the customer did not return the van and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
The manager then contacted the police to report the van as stolen. The van in question is a white U-Haul with Arizona Registration #AL49387.
The police have entered the vehicle into the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) as stolen.
