ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office has released its daily activity report for March 22, 2023, detailing the various incidents that deputies responded to throughout the day.
One call involved a report of a prowler/suspicious person in Athens Township, but deputies patrolled the area and found nothing out of the ordinary. Another call was made regarding trespassers/prowlers in the same area, but again, deputies found nothing.
A deputy was dispatched to the Roy Avenue area of The Plains for a well-being check on a male subject, but negative contact was made at the residence. However, a neighbor reported that the subject had left for work.
A resident on Floyd Drive, The Plains, found a bottle of medication in the roadway and requested a deputy to come and take custody of it. A deputy responded and recovered the medication for proper disposal.
Deputies also responded to a dispute between a male and female on Elliotsville Road, Athens. The male, Eddy Anderson, was found to have active warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody without incident. The dispute was only verbal.
Jarrod Brooks, an 18-year-old from Albany, was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, where he will remain until his initial court appearance.
Other incidents included a harassment complaint at The Sandstone Apartments in The Plains, a well-being check on State Route 682 in The Plains, a missing property report on Cardinal Lane in Athens, and an abandoned vehicle complaint at the Marathon in Chauncey.
Deputies also responded to a report of an assault that occurred in New Marshfield, where a male came to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office to file a report. Additionally, a West Virginia driver’s license was found on SR. 13 and picked up by deputies, belonging to a female with the last name of Squires.
Finally, deputies were dispatched to Crabtree Road in Albany for an open line 911 call, which was determined to have been made by a cell phone being played with by grandchildren. They also responded to a report of a reckless driver in a yellow Jeep on E First Street in The Plains, but the vehicle was no longer present on arrival.
