VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — A serious accident involving three vehicles remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash occurred on State Route 32 in Vinton Township yesterday afternoon at around 4:05 P.M.
According to the patrol, 21-year-old Chassidy Rupe from Vinton was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra north on SR160 when she attempted to cross SR32. Unfortunately, she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with a 2010 Mazda 3 driven by 56-year-old Brian Newvahner from Albany, Ohio.
The impact of the collision caused Mr. Newvahner’s car to hit a Kenworth W9 Dump Truck, which was traveling southbound on SR160 and waiting at the intersection to enter SR32. The truck was driven by 33-year-old Justin Mollohan from Bidwell, Ohio.
Ms. Rupe sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Holzer Hospital in Jackson, by E.M.S.
Meanwhile, Mr. Newvahner suffered serious injuries and was flown by Med-Flight to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
The accident resulted in SR32 being closed for approximately an hour to facilitate scene clean-up and medical transportation.
