CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police responded to a reported shooting on Mechanic Street in Chillicothe’s south side just before 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man who claimed he had been in a confrontation with the suspect, Jacob Kazee. The man reported that Kazee pulled out a pink 9mm handgun, fired three shots from the passenger window of a vehicle, and then fled the scene. The vehicle was allegedly driven by Stacey Daggett.

Daggett, however, told police that Kazee never fired a gun.

After receiving permission to search a residence, officers discovered the gun allegedly used in the shooting. Police also found multiple shell casings in the street from the incident.

Authorities seized the vehicle reportedly involved in the shooting. Inside, they discovered drug paraphernalia and a live round.

Kazee was arrested and taken to the Ross County Jail, where he was charged with the shooting. According to arrest records, Kazee has had several recent run-ins with police and has been a person of interest in multiple recent shootings.
