CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man flees from troopers and deputies in Ross County following a hit-and-run crash.
It happened yesterday afternoon just before 2 p.m.
According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies aided troopers with the Ohio Highway Patrol along Old Route 35 after receiving information about a hit-and-run accident. Deputies said in their report that the suspect, identified as James Harris, fled from the crash to a nearby scrap yard.
Deputies upon arrival found the alleged vehicle involved. Deputies also said that they saw a white male wearing a black t-shirt near the adjacent railroad tracks. The deputy pursued the man before losing sight of him near a large grove of trees.
Additional deputies were dispatched to the scene including a drone team from the V.A. in Chillicothe. The troopers were eventually able to find Harris. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Ross County Jail where he is still in custody.
