CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Police Department arrested a man on August 9, in connection with a shooting that occurred at a home on Wilson Avenue on July 28.
Officers responded to the home on the 28th after receiving reports of shots fired. The residents told police that someone had fired multiple shots into the rear of the home, where the bedroom is located. The residents were in bed at the time and stated that the headboard was struck by gunfire.
Detectives responded to the scene and found eleven bullet holes in the outside of the home, one of which struck a window air conditioner. Bullets had also penetrated the walls of the residence, causing damage in multiple rooms. Evidence was collected from inside the home and from the yard.
During the investigation, a suspect was identified as Brian K. Smith Sr. of Columbus, Ohio. Arrest warrants were issued for Smith on August 8, and he was arrested by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office on August 9. Smith is being held in the Pickaway County Jail on charges of two counts of felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm at or into habitation, and having weapons under disability.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.
