CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A routine visit to a house by a Chillicothe Public Utilities employee took a dangerous turn on Friday when a dog on the property bit the worker, triggering an investigation by the county dog warden.
William Oney, the utility worker, was attempting to leave paperwork at the door of a home at 415 Summit Drive when he was attacked. There were two dogs present in the yard at the time, one of which bit Oney on the leg as he approached the door.
Following the incident, Oney sought treatment at Adena Occupational Health for his injuries.
The dogs on the property were found to be wearing shock collars, restricting them to a defined perimeter. However, one dog managed to cross this boundary to bite Oney.
Upon the homeowner’s return, she confirmed that both dogs were up to date with their vaccinations. The incident was then reported to Ross County Dog Warden, Dakota Tucker, for further investigation.
Contacted via phone, Tucker affirmed that a follow-up with the owner was scheduled post his visit to the occupational health facility.
