CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The proprietors of Midwest Motoplex, a now-closed ATV dealership in Chillicothe, have been handed a prison sentence of nearly five years for their involvement in fraudulently obtaining over $400,000 in business loans.
The case, which led to the conviction, was prosecuted by Ohio Attorney General Yost’s Consumer Protection Section after an investigation that involved collaboration with the Ohio Department of Taxation, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and the Chillicothe Police Department.
The legal action against the owners gained traction in 2016 when search warrants were executed on the business.
Over the years multiple consumer complaints surfaced against the business.
On October 28, 2016, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office initiated a lawsuit against Midwest Motoplex, citing violations of consumer sales and motor vehicle titles acts.
