LANCASTER, Ohio — One person is dead following a collision with an Amish buggy. It happened Sunday evening in Lancaster.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occured around 5:52 p.m. on McCullough Road SE near State Route 312.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Ford F-350 driven by a 72-year-old man was traveling westbound on Township Road 322 when it struck a horse and buggy traveling eastbound on the same road.
The buggy, driven by a 65-year-old man, was hit by the truck and overturned after careening off the right side of the road.
A passenger in the buggy, identified as Klayton Coblentz, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The extent of any other injuries has yet to be released.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
