WAVERLY, Ohio — The Pike County Solid Waste District is organizing a household hazardous waste and small appliance collection event, aimed at promoting proper disposal of toxic and flammable household chemicals. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 6, from 9 am to 1 pm, at the Pike County Government Center located at 230 Waverly Plaza.
Residents are encouraged to bring various household items for safe disposal, including but not limited to:
- Lighter Fluid
- Thinners
- Turpentine
- Adhesives
- Old gasoline
- Polishes
- Kerosene
- Used Oil
- Vehicle Batteries
- Oil-based Paints
- Latex Paints
- Aerosols
- Cyanides
- Acids & Caustics
- Drain Cleaners
- Bleach
- Household Cleaners
- Rat Poisons
- Fluorescent Bulbs
- Pesticides
- Propane
- Insecticides
- Fertilizers
- Lawn Chemicals
- Antifreeze
- Fire Extinguishers
- Ni-Cad Batteries
- Lithium Batteries
- Alkaline Batteries
- Smoke Detectors
- Pool Chemicals

Additionally, the event will accept small appliances and electronics. However, residents wishing to dispose of televisions must adhere to the following fee structure:
- Up to 32 inches: $6
- 34 and 36 inches: $8
- Any TV over 36 inches: $12
Payment is required for television disposal.
Items that will not be accepted include ammunition, medical waste, pharmaceuticals, tires, solid waste (trash), refrigerators, stoves, large televisions over 36 inches, or business waste.
Event workers will facilitate the unloading process, and participants are advised to remain in their vehicles. The collection event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
