CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A routine patrol led to the arrest of a 17-year-old teen, on March 4th. While on patrol on South Douglas Avenue, detectives with the Chillicothe Police Department noticed a black Nissan with fictitious plates, leading to a traffic stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, reports read, detectives observed the teen, acting suspiciously. Per the police report, the teen was known to be involved in alleged gang activity.
Officials say that during a pat-down, detectives found marijuana and crack cocaine on him, along with loose ammunition in the vehicle. Further searches of the vehicle reportedly uncovered two firearms, including one with a scratched-off serial number.
Police say the teen was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of improper handling of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm, and possession of cocaine.
Police also found additional ammunition in the teen’s shoe, matching the ammunition found in the vehicle.
The case is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and pursue charges against the teen.
