CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A teen was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to use a stolen gun to shoot his ex-girlfriend and a local school.
Deputies were dispatched to Unioto High School yesterday, while the school resource officer was contacted regarding a threats complaint. According to the police report, a female student said that she had been in a verbal argument with her boyfriend when he allegedly made threats to shoot her and then shoot up the high school.
Investigators went to the male teen’s residence where they spoke with one of the parents and the teen. The male, deputies said, admitted to making the threat to shoot his girlfriend but only after she allegedly threatened to shoot him, first.
When questioned about having a firearm in the residence the grandmother stated that she was a convicted felon and could not own one. Deputies said that they had received word that the teen had a gun hidden in his dresser drawer. The family gave deputies permission to search, and according to the report, found a 9mm casing inside the drawer. The family then admitted the teen had allegedly stolen the gun from a grandparent’s house; the gun was located under the grandmother’s mattress.
The teen was subsequently arrested and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. He faces charges of grand theft of a firearm and one count of menacing.
