CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Ross County Historical Society, in partnership with the Mound City Chapter of the Archaeological Society of Ohio and Hopewell Culture National Historic Park, will host its seventh annual Archaeology Day event on Saturday, April 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The event will feature over 20 exhibits showcasing prehistoric artifacts, fossils, and rocks collected by members of the Mound City Chapter. Visitors can also view rarely seen items from the Ross County Historical Society’s collections, including mammoth and mastodon teeth, fossils, and locally-found prehistoric artifacts.
Archaeologist Jeb Bowen and other experts will be available to identify mystery items brought in by the public.
The event will be held at the Ross County Heritage Center, 45 West 5th Street, Chillicothe. Admission is free and includes tours of the Historical Society’s prehistoric cultures exhibit. For more information, call (740) 772-1936.
