COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Supreme Court of Ohio has opened a 45-day public comment period on proposed amendments to the case processing time standards for the state’s trial courts. These proposed changes aim to adjust specific time standards across court jurisdictions to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the court system.
These amendments are the result of work done by the Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Case Management, a group commissioned by Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy to review and improve existing case processing standards. The adjustments are intended to better reflect the diverse demands and operational needs of Ohio’s trial courts, potentially streamlining judicial processes for both civil and criminal cases.
Members of the public are invited to submit written comments on the proposed changes by December 16, 2024. Comments may be mailed to:
Christopher Geocaris Case Management Section Manager Supreme Court of Ohio 65 South Front Street, 7th Floor Columbus, OH 43215
Or sent via email to: [email protected] (Please include your full name and mailing address in any email submissions.)
This period offers Ohioans an opportunity to weigh in on procedural adjustments that could impact case resolution timelines across various case types, from civil disputes to criminal proceedings.
