LUCASVILLE, Ohio — A Scioto County woman is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening to bring a bomb to Northwest High School while riding a school bus last Friday, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.

Star Jackson, 18, of Lucasville, was arrested and charged with inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor, and making terroristic threats, a third-degree felony. She was arrested and transported to the Scioto County Jail on an $11,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court today, April 27.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 911 center received a report from Northwest High School regarding threats made toward the school. Deputies responded immediately, assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, Jackson had already been detained by school staff in an administrative office.

The investigation revealed that while riding a school bus, Jackson was engaged in a conversation with another student about a song referencing bringing a shotgun to school and committing a school shooting. During that conversation, Jackson allegedly stated she would like to bring a bomb to the school and “get rid of the school and the people in it.”

Two students who overheard the statements reported the incident to the bus driver, who notified a supervisor. Assistant Principal Camron Hoover escorted Jackson to the school office, where a search of her belongings was conducted for weapons or explosives. None were found.

Deputies later advised Jackson of her Miranda rights. She admitted to making the statements and provided a written confession.

Sheriff Thoroughman said the case will be forwarded to Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman for presentation to a grand jury.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
