CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle while walking on US-35 in Concord Township early Saturday morning, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported at 8:27 a.m. Saturday, near mile marker 3 on US-35, after the Patrol’s Jackson Communication Center received a report of an object on the side of the roadway. Troopers arrived to find that a crash had occurred.
Jolayne C. Blake, 45, of Chillicothe, was walking on the roadway when she was struck by a 2021 Kia K5 driven by Paitaan White, 28, also of Chillicothe, who was traveling northwest on US-35. Blake was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office by Haller Funeral Home. White did not report any injuries.
US-35 was shut down for approximately one hour during the investigation.
Troopers from the Chillicothe Post were assisted at the scene by Concord Township Fire and EMS, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office. The crash remains under investigation.
