CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Hamden man was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross US 50, Monday afternoon and was flown to a Columbus trauma center.
The crash happened at 2:50 p.m. near mile marker 32 on US 50. A 2013 Dodge Caravan driven by William Keiter, 76, of Jamestown, was traveling westbound on US 50 when James M. Harris, 46, of Hamden, attempted to cross the roadway from the south and was struck.
Keiter was not injured. Harris was transported by Liberty Township EMS to Adena Regional Hospital in Chillicothe before being flown to the OSU Trauma Center in Columbus.
US 50 was reduced to one lane for approximately 30 minutes while first responders rendered aid. Troopers from the Chillicothe Post were assisted at the scene by Liberty Township Fire and EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
