WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners voted July 13 to buy two downtown parcels at 211 South Fayette St. for $625,000, agreeing to purchase the property from KM Properties Ltd. with the sale expected to close by Sept. 30.
The parcels, identified as Fayette County Auditor Parcel Numbers 213-024-3-00-035-00 and 213-024-3-00-036-00, are described in a deed recorded in the county’s official records, according to the resolution. Commissioners said the acquisition was necessary for public purposes but did not specify how the county intends to use the property.
Under the purchase contract, the county will be responsible for any required parcel transfer fee, while the seller covers the conveyance fee, deed preparation and 2026 real estate taxes prorated to the closing date. The county has 30 days to conduct a title search and notify the seller of any defects, and the seller has 30 days to cure them. The county will take possession at closing and is buying the property in its current, as-is condition.
In other business, commissioners entered into a project agreement with the Ohio Public Works Commission for up to $457,308 in state capital improvement funds to help pay for the Snowhill Road bridge rehabilitation and county paving project. The county will provide a matching $457,309 in local funds, bringing the total estimated project cost to $914,617.
Commissioners also authorized the county airport manager to proceed with the purchase of a used fuel truck for the Fayette County Airport at a cost not to exceed $125,000.
