CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man was taken into custody early Sunday after Ross County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting and gunfire coming from inside a home in the 3800 block of Vigo Road.
Dispatchers sent deputies to the area shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday for a shooting report and units staged nearby before making contact. Deputies on scene reported verbal contact with a man on the front porch of the residence.
A short time later, a nearby property owner reported hearing gunfire, and deputies on scene confirmed shots had reportedly been fired from inside the home before their arrival. Highway Patrol units were dispatched to shut down nearby roads, including Trego Creek Road and a section of High Street, as a precaution.
A woman in a camper on the property was contacted by deputies and asked to evacuate the area while the situation was ongoing.
Deputies re-established contact with the man at the front door of the residence a short time later. He was tased and taken into custody.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
