WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County Public Health said goodbye this week to the first cohort of summer interns in the agency’s history, five students who spent the summer assisting with community events, outreach materials and behind-the-scenes projects.
The agency said in a Facebook post that interns Ashlyn, Aubrey, Leah, McKenna and Meadow helped staff community events, created videos and graphics, and worked on internal projects over the past several months. The health department described the internship as its first attempt at hosting a group of student interns.
Fayette County Public Health is led by Health Commissioner Leigh N. Cannon and provides a range of services to county residents, including immunizations, communicable disease management, reproductive health services, school nursing, environmental health inspections, emergency preparedness and the Women, Infants and Children nutrition program. The agency is governed by a five-member Board of Health along with a district advisory council representing 15 townships and villages across Fayette County.
The agency thanked the interns for their work as they head back to school this fall.
