JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A pursuit that turned into an accident has restricted portions of the interstate in Fayette County on Sunday.
Troopers were pursuing a car at high-speeds at around 7 p.m. down I-71 southbound in Jefferson Township.
Details are limited, but the pursuit was going at high speeds down the interstate when the white sedan traveling southbound crossed the median, drove over the northbound lanes, crashed through a wire fence, and came to a stop in a cornfield.
The driver has been taken into custody.
One lane of the three lanes, northbound, was restricted by emergency vehicles.
The driver was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment. Their name has not been released.
