CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A criminal investigation is under-way after the discovery of illegal items at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution this week.
Staff Lieutenant Craig Cvetan, Public Affairs Commander for the Ohio Highway Patrol confirmed to the Guardian that illegal drugs and cell phones were discovered at the facility.
Cvetan stated, “As part of our investigation we will look to identify anyone who was involved in the conveyance of the contraband into the facility.”
There has been reports that a independent contractor for the prison was involved. The Guardian could not independently verify these claims at this time.
The case remains under investigation.
