CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — More details have emerged on the reported hostage situation that occurred Friday night in Chillicothe.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers responded to the area of South Walnut Street for reports of a shooting around 11 p.m. on Friday.
Dispatchers received a call from within the residence stating that there had been a fight and that a man had pulled a gun, threatening to kill everyone inside.
A witness to the incident told police that the suspect (later identified as Stefhon Greathouse) had assaulted a woman inside the home. The victim told police that Greathouse had allegedly brought a large number of narcotics. When the victim told Greathouse to leave, that is when, reports say, she was attacked.
An additional witness told police that they had attempted to stop Greathouse. That is when he pulled a pistol, saying, “I’ve got three bullets. I’ll shoot you and kill everyone in this house.”
Deputies, along with troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol, surrounded the South Walnut Street home. Dispatchers told responding officers that this was a reported hostage situation. After a short stand-off, all four individuals came out of the residence and were detained while officers launched an investigation.
In a report provided to the Guardian by police, the gun used in the incident was seized and taken into evidence. Officers said the gun was a customized weapon with a gold barrel. Stefhon Greathouse was served a citation for discharging a firearm within the city limits.
The other victims involved said they did not want to press charges.
