COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State takes to the gridiron today in their season opener against Notre Dame.
Head Coach Marcus Freeman of the “Fighting Irish” said Monday, that he knows it will be a challenge to take on the Buckeyes at home. “There is no better way for us to see where we are as a team than to challenge one of the best teams in the nation,” Freeman said.
Today marks Ohio State’s 133rd season in college football. They go into their opener ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press and AFCA polls.
This is the fourth consecutive meeting between the two football teams, where both are ranked in the Top 10. Only nine other times has Ohio State opened its season against a ranked opponent, the last being August of 2003 against Washington.
Ohio State will also return 16 starters this year.
