PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Alisha Painter, also known as Alisha Young, has been located safe in the Chillicothe area, according to the Pike County Prosecutor’s Office. The family, officials said, has been notified, and law enforcement has confirmed her identity.

According to sources, a citizen recognized her and contacted local law enforcement, leading to her safe recovery. Authorities say the efforts of the public played a vital role in locating her, as her photos were shared extensively over the last several days.

The missing woman was last seen on February 25 walking away from a Piketon, Ohio gas station. Law enforcement officials say surveillance footage shows the vehicle pulling into the Sunoco parking lot at 1:47 a.m. on February 25, with a female matching Painter’s description exiting the vehicle at around 4:30 a.m. and walking out of view in a South/Southeast direction. She was last seen wearing a white jacket and white pants. The white coat and a pair of gloves were located in a wooded area near the gas station during a search conducted by the Christian Aid Ministries Search and Rescue Group.

It is still unclear regarding the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, and how she ended up in the Chillicothe area.

Further details about the case have not been released at this time.
