ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital has pledged $20,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio to support the construction of two homes in the region.
The homes in Jacksonville, Athens County, and Carbon-Hill Buchtel Road, Hocking County, will provide affordable housing for families in need.
The project also offers unique volunteer opportunities for OhioHealth staff and community members to participate in the build. The hospital’s staff has signed 2 x 4’s with well-wishes which will be included in the builds, alongside their volunteering efforts.
Habitat for Humanity homes are built in partnership with families in need of housing and follow a “hand up, not a hand out” model. Families purchase their homes and pay a zero-interest mortgage back to Habitat, which then uses those mortgage payments to build and repair more homes in Athens and Hocking Counties.
