ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a variety of calls on March 23, 2023, according to their daily activity report. Deputies were dispatched to different locations in Athens County to address a range of issues, from potential threats to well-being checks.
One of the incidents that deputies responded to was a report of threats being made following a break-up in Athens Township. The parties were advised to stop having contact, and no further action was taken.
In another incident, deputies responded to Robinson Road in Athens for a report of a 911 hang-up call. However, units were unable to make contact at the residence and did not observe anything unusual. They resumed patrol in the area.
Deputies were also dispatched to Toledo Street in Glouster for a report of suspicious activity. The complainant reported two males going through the dumpster. During the investigation, deputies found out that the males were looking for food in the dumpster. However, one of the suspects had a felony warrant for domestic violence. Jeffrey Giffin Jr., age 39 of Glouster, was arrested and transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail without incident.
Deputies also responded to other incidents, such as a reported overdose on N Plains Road in The Plains, a dispute in Chauncey, and a trespassing incident in Chauncey as well. Johnathon Rosser, age 32 of The Plains, was arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail for an active felony warrant out of Athens Common Pleas Court.
Deputies were also dispatched to Coolville for a theft complaint on Ireland Road, where they took a report and an investigation is pending. Additionally, deputies assisted the Athens City Police Department in trying to locate a man with warrants, but they were unable to find him.
The Athens County Sheriff’s Office daily activity report concludes with deputies being dispatched to Glouster for an alarm activation. However, they were advised to cancel prior to their arrival.
