CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — In Chillicothe, a young child had a frightening experience this week when they managed to obtain car keys and tried to drive away but ended up crashing into a fence instead. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on Dayton Street in the eastern part of the city.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Chillicothe Police Department officers engaged with the child. They inquired about the child’s guardian, and upon learning that it was their mother, instructed the child to fetch her. According to the police report, the officers discovered the vehicle with the keys still in the ignition. There was minor damage to both the vehicle and a nearby fence post. The child’s mother explained that she was asleep during the incident and had no knowledge that the child had acquired the keys and attempted to drive the car.
