CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man is wanted for attempted murder after trying to kill another person with an SUV.

The Guardian broke the story back on July 11 that a man was found on the ground in front of Cheap Tobacco on the corner of East Main and Bridge Streets at around 3:30 a.m. He was screaming in agony that he had been hit by a vehicle and that his hips and legs were hurting. Medics transported the man to the local hospital, where police were not able to corroborate his story. No vehicle was immediately located, however, after an intense investigation, a statewide manhunt for an attempted murderer has been launched.

Police in Chillicothe said they are looking for Jason L. Lytle, 46, for charges of attempted murder and felonious assault. Law enforcement said that Lytle had used an SUV to intentionally pin the victim against a brickwall. The provocation or motive was not released by police.

Law enforcement said it was not hard to identify Lytle as the would-be-killer because the attack was caught on several security cameras in the area that belonged to local businesses.

The suburban used to try and kill the victim was seized by police and proven to be used in the attack, while a warrant for Lytle has been entered into a nationwide database. A second person was also injured, but made it away without serious injuries.
