CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A recent theft has raised concerns and intrigue in the community of Chillicothe. Two distinctive go-karts have been reported stolen from a deceased man.

The incident came to light this week when Joseph Bartlett, a close friend of a deceased homeowner, visited the property intending to collect the go-karts. To his shock, he found the chains, which had kept the go-karts secure in the carport, cut, and the go-karts missing.

Bartlett reported that the homeowner, his longtime friend, had recently passed away. He had last seen the go-karts on October 12th and had planned to keep them as a memento of their shared memories.

Descriptions of the stolen go-karts are quite unique, which may aid in their recovery. One of them is described as resembling a dune buggy, bearing a vivid purple hue, and noticeably lacking a motor. The other is a blue trike-style go-kart. Given their distinctive designs, the local community is hopeful that they will be spotted soon.

Local authorities, in their preliminary investigation, have not found any surveillance footage from the neighboring houses. They have advised Bartlett to monitor online marketplaces, especially Facebook Marketplace, and other social media platforms in the hopes that the culprits might try to sell the go-karts.

Residents are being urged to keep an eye out and report any information that might lead to the recovery of these cherished go-karts or any suspicious activity related to their sale.
