Ohio Campus Compact Americorp Volunteer organizes free meals for OU-C students this Thanksgiving season.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ohio University-Chillicothe (OU-C) has a revived Student Resource Center under the leadership of Johnathan Roberts, an Ohio Campus Compact Americorp volunteer for the 2023-2024 school year.

With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner, Roberts has made arrangements through donors to have Bob Evans meals, complete with turkey, ready to give away to OU-C students, in need. According to Jennifer Cochran, Manager of External Communications and Relations, “it’s been a targeted effort to help support our students and their families and ensure that none of our students have to go without a special meal this Thanksgiving.”

“This is one example of how OU-C supports our students who may be experiencing situations that may impact their overall well-being and ability to be successful in college. OHIO Chillicothe cares deeply about our students and our community. We are grateful to community members, as well as our own faculty and staff, who have generously sponsored the purchase of these cold-packed meals from Bob Evans, which students will be able to pick up early next week. Johnathan Roberts, the AmeriCorps member who coordinates the Student Resource Center at OU-C, has done a wonderful job of coordinating requests and securing sponsors so that we can help meet our students’ needs and ensure that their holiday tables are full,” commented Cochran.

The purpose of the center is to provide food, clothing, school supplies, transportation support, housing and medical care, substance abuse supports, counseling and academic tutoring according to the OU-C website at ohio.edu/chillicothe/student-resource-center.

The Student Resource Center has moved to the first floor of Bennett Hall room 129. It is open Monday through Friday each week for students. For additional information, email ouc-resourcecenter@ohio.edu.
