CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Ross County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate threats made against U.S. Congressman Brad Wenstrup. The threats, which were initially reported to the U.S. Capitol Police on March 8, were traced back to a residence on Seney Road in Chillicothe.
Upon arrival at the residence, the homeowners confirmed, per the report, that the phone number provided by the Capitol Police belonged to their son. Investigators subsequently met with the teenager at Zane Trace High School, where he reportedly handed over his cell phone for examination.
Investigators said a review of the phone’s call log revealed three separate calls made to Congressman Wenstrup’s office. The teenager claimed that the calls were intended as a prank and were part of a TikTok challenge.
Despite the alarming nature of the threats, the Sheriff’s Office has determined them to be non-credible and has not filed any charges in relation to the incident. The specific content of the threatening messages has not been disclosed by the authorities at this time.
