CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man was arrested and charged following a drive-by shooting.
On May 1, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a house on Route 41. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a black Ford Fusion, with one occupant named as Wyatt Swackhammer.
Law enforcement later observed the black Ford Fusion speeding on Blain Highway and conducted a traffic stop. According to deputies, Swackhammer initially denied having any firearms, but matching shell casings were found at the shooting scene and inside the vehicle.
The police report states that Swackhammer eventually confessed to discarding the gun near Bainbridge after the shooting.
A passenger in the car, Jose Mejiah, was also arrested.
On May 17, Swackhammer was formally charged with four counts of felonious assault, one count of discharging a weapon into a habitat, and one count of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle.
His bond is set at $50,000.
