CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Pickaway County Community Action Organization (PICCA) has announced that enrollment for the 2024-25 Head Start and Early Head Start programs is now open. Early Head Start is available for children up to 3 years old, including prenatal mothers, while Head Start is for children aged 3-5 years.

Jonna Motter, PICCA’s Director of Early Childhood Education, emphasized the benefits of the programs, stating, “Head Start gives children and parents an advantage in the educational process. Studies show that children enrolled in Head Start perform better in school and in life.”

The Head Start services offer comprehensive child development and family support services to all enrolled children, pregnant women, and families, including services for children with disabilities. Eligibility extends to families experiencing homelessness, those receiving public assistance (SNAP, TANF, and SSI), and those with incomes under the federal poverty guidelines. Children in foster care are also eligible.

The upcoming school year begins on August 14. With spots filling up quickly, Motter advises interested parents and guardians to enroll promptly.

Walk-in enrollments are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Corwin Head Start building, located at 145 E. Corwin St., Circleville, Ohio 43113.
