ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A fatal crash closed Route 23 outside Chillicothe on Friday.

It happened at around 2 p.m. near the Route 207 connector ramp, northbound.

Troopers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover accident.

According to the highway patrol, a 2005 Honda Pilot, driven by Alexander Pollard, 22, of West Union, and his passenger Nicholas Fisher, 23, of Peebles, Ohio, was traveling south on US 23. Their vehicle veered off the left side of the road and into the northbound lanes of Route 23, causing it to overturn and eject Alexander Pollard.

Pollard died as a result of the crash. Fisher was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center. Route 23 was closed for about 3 hours.

The events leading up to the crash have not been released.
