CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Authorities seized multiple firearms and a significant quantity of suspected narcotics during a raid at a Chillicothe residence on September 4, 2024. The search warrant executed at 280 Mechanic Street was part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Upon serving the warrant, officers detained Benny Lee Simpson, who was seen leaving the residence in a black Chevy Malibu. A subsequent search of the property revealed over 162 grams of suspected narcotics, including ecstasy tablets, alongside a digital scale and packaging materials indicative of drug trafficking.

The raid also uncovered two firearms in the living room, one a .25 caliber Ravens Arms and the other a .45 caliber Glock 21. Both firearms, found among paperwork and an expired driver’s license in Simpson’s name, lacked documented records.

Simpson, with a criminal history including aggravated robbery and drug trafficking convictions, faces charges of weapons under disability. The suspected narcotics have been sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations for testing, with additional drug-related charges pending.

The investigation remains ongoing.
