CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Gun violence has reached alarming levels in Ohio, with Ross County exhibiting a notably high incidence of shootings. Since January 1, 2022, there have been over 120 shooting investigations in Ross County alone. This figure excludes suicides, underscoring a severe problem with gun violence in the area.
The statistics reveal a stark disparity. Ross County’s shooting rate stands at approximately 155.8 incidents per 100,000 people, which is significantly higher than both the national average of 6.6 shootings per 100,000 and the Ohio state average of 21.2 shootings per 100,000.
