FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation following the discovery of human remains in a wooded locale of Pleasantville, Ohio. Authorities were alerted to the situation in the 5300 block of Geiger Rd. on March 9, 2025, after receiving a report from a local resident.

Sheriff’s deputies verified the presence of the remains upon arrival and secured the area for investigation. The case is being handled collaboratively by the sheriff’s detectives and coroner’s office investigators, who are meticulously gathering evidence at the scene.

Sheriff Lape commented on the ongoing investigation, stating, “At this time, we are working diligently to determine the identity of the individual and the circumstances surrounding this discovery. We understand that the community has concerns, and we are committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation.”

The human remains have been transported to the Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine both the cause and manner of death.
