CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 24-year-old Chillicothe man died late Friday night after a single-vehicle crash on Narrows Road in Springfield Township, Ross County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred at 9:44 p.m. on Friday, approximately 0.75 miles south of Marietta Road, according to the Patrol’s Jackson Communication Center. Ryan D. Thompson was driving a 2001 Acura southeast when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the left side of the roadway and overturn, the Patrol said. Thompson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, authorities said.
Thompson was airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Springfield Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township EMS, and the Ross County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. Narrows Road was closed for about three hours while troopers conducted their investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
