FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Ohio — A Fairfield County teen was arrested yesterday after a school threat was posted on social media.
According to Fairfield County Sheriff Alex Lape, deputies and detectives were dispatched to Lakeview Junior High Tuesday afternoon.
The Sheriff said following an investigation by detectives a juvenile suspect was located and later taken into custody. Pickerington High School and Lakeview Junior High School were placed under precautionary lockdowns during the investigation.
The district released a statement saying “we wanted to provide the latest on the lockdown situation that occurred at PHSN and Lakeview Jr. High today. Fairfield County Sheriff’s deputies took a person into custody tonight who is believed to have issued the threat which caused the lockdowns. It is important to state that at no point were students or staff in danger — the threat came from outside of the buildings. Classes will resume tomorrow as normal at all schools with an additional law enforcement presence as a precaution at PHSN and Lakeview. Contact your child’s school if you have any questions regarding the school day tomorrow. We thank the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office for their quick response and investigation of this incident.”
Lape or the district did not specify the exact nature of the threat, but the sheriff did say that the investigation is ongoing in the case.
